WHEN AND HOW OFTEN SHOULD RECOVERY FILTERS BE CHANGED?
In order to ensure good indoor air quality and longevity of the ventilation system, it is necessary to regularly change the recuperator's air filters. How often they need to be changed depends on several factors: the quality of the filters, the size of the house, the location of the house, the time of installation and the season
If you use less expensive filters such as fiberglass, they need to be changed more often than if you use high-end fluted air filters. Based on these criteria, the filters could last 30 days when they are of poor quality, and half a year when they are of good quality. We recommend using quality air filters and changing them at least twice a year in moderate weather conditions.
In newly built houses, it is recommended to change the filters every two months for the first half of the year, because in newly built houses there is dust left over from building materials. A filter containing a lot of dirt is harmful not only to your health, but also to the proper functioning of the recuperator system - in order to ensure optimal air flow in the premises, the device has to work at higher loads.
Other very important aspects that affect the frequency of recuperator filter replacement are the location of your home, the size of the home, and the season. If you live in a city, the air is likely to be more polluted than if you live in the country. A larger house usually has a longer air duct system - in such cases, the recuperator is loaded more than in a smaller house. During summer, when the air is drier, it contains more dust than in winter. So, if your residence is large, located in the city and it is summer time, it is likely that the air filters will accumulate more dirt than in other conditions.
In order to know how often the air filters need to be changed, it is recommended to check them every two months. If the filters turned out to be dirty during the inspection, replace them and ensure clean and high-quality air in your home. A clean heat exchanger system consumes less energy and creates a healthy indoor microclimate and a sense of comfort.
What you achieve by changing the air filters:
-
you protect the ventilation channels from dirt;
-
you reduce the amount of dust, fungi and bacteria both in the ventilation ducts and in the rooms;
-
you guarantee the highest possible heat recovery coefficient;
-
you ensure minimal noise emitted by the air ducts.
